life * growth * peace
Nicole Fisher Artist Statement
Trees have inspired my imagination for as long as I can remember. In my artwork, which includes photography, painting and assemblages, trees are both subject and medium.
My most recent series, which I began after the Woolsey fire burned through my community and my home, explores the liberation of simplicity, and the gift of focusing on what really matters when the clutter is taken away.
Using texture as a tool to play with light, my images change with the time of day, creating a space for interpretation from different perspectives.
Trees remind us to stay rooted, for in that space we can find strength when the wind blows. With that strength we can take action for something greater than ourselves.
"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."
― Nelson Henderson
